While she has shown amazing strength as she recovers from this devastating accident, Marketa is in need of support from her handball family. The WNT has set up the “Marketa Fund,” to raise money to bring Marketa’s family to the US from the Czech Republic. The WNT will collect money for the “Marketa Fund,” which will be distributed to Marketa and her family directly. To donate, please click here:
Marketa has been a strong presence in the US handball community over the past several years. In 2002-2003, she trained with the WNT in Lake Placid, helping the team as they prepared for the 2003 Pan-American Games in the Dominican Republic. She was also in Cortland, NY in 2004 when the WNT began its residency program, playing and training with the team, while also coaching the Cortland Men’s Handball Club. UPDATE: Due to Hurricane Rita, Marketa has been evacuated and moved to a hospital in Washington, DC. Please look for updates on the message board. Donations can still be made through the website. |
