Marketa Chromkova Hospitalized After Tragic Accident Print E-mail

On September 3, 2005, Marketa Chromkova was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Galveston, TX. Marketa was rushed to the hospital with near-fatal injuries that included fractured vertebrae, a severely fractured leg, broken jaw, and several injuries to her face. The driver of the motorcycle, Houston Stars player Carlos DeCesaris, was killed in the accident when he lost control of the motorcycle going around a curve, sending both he and Marketa over a seawall onto some rocks.

1LT Laura Walker Dies In the Line Of Duty Print E-mail

The USA Women’s National Team would like to honor and remember 1LT Laura Walker, a 2003 graduate from the United States Military Academy. Laura Walker was an outstanding soldier and a committed athlete. On 18 August 2005, her life was tragically cut short when her High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Afghanistan. She was assigned to the 864th Engineer Battalion (Heavy), 555th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (Provisional), Fort Lewis, Washington.

WNT Releases Strategic Marketing Plan Print E-mail

In the past year, the Women’s National Team (WNT) has focused on achieving the mission laid out by the USA Team Handball Federation: “To establish and promote a focused Team Handball developmental pipeline in order to achieve and sustain competitive excellence at all levels with the goal of winning gold medals.” It is with this vision in mind that the WNT moves forward in an effort to gain sponsorship to support both the developmental aspects of Team Handball, in addition to the Women’s National Team Residency Program.
